WHAT DO YOU LIKE ABOUT WRITING?
Throughout my childhood, I found great difficulty in expressing myself verbally. I thought to myself, only if there was another way to express myself...very quickly I discovered writing.
Ever since, I have used my words as a means of self expression. Through writing, I have found that I can communicate my thoughts and opinions in a tangible way where I am able to feel understood. Although I often write in my journal, musical writing has gifted me with the power to generate a musical common ground that embraces the ethnic, social and political differences that we may have; yielding as an escape. My writing has given me a voice.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PIECE OF WRITING YOU'VE WRITTEN?
My favorite piece of writing that I've written would be my humor essay. This essay is designed as a character sketch about one person in your life; I chose my father Jeffery. This essay is extremely special to me as I feel it serves as a sort of tribute to him and the immensely impactful role that he has played in my life. Furthermore, once our class completed our essays, my English professor submitted them to the Marin County Fair. My humor essay ended up placing second. This piece of writing is close to my heart as I feel it portrays my father perfectly, serving as a capsule for his being.

DO YOU HAVE A BOOK OR POEM THAT IS SPECIAL TO YOU?
One of my favorite poems is “Phenomenal Woman” by Maya Angelou. Considering I am a feminist, this piece of writing has been especially impactful in my continually evolving identity. As a writer I believe it is essential to read other individuals' works of literature in order to improve one's own writing. I love this piece for its transparency and universal truth.
